There's been a lot of hoo haa on 3D printing technology in the papers and local media in the past few months. I know nuts about it. So I went to YouTube to research on a quick summary
Here's my favorite video among all the rest. It's simple and easy to understand. Very well edited and crafted. Some of the other videos can get very dry when they're trying to explain the terms, or become too technical. This video sums it up very well. And you can grasp most of what you'll need to know about 3D printing in 3 minutes.
Some pictures and excerpts from the Video
"Think of it like making Sliced bread, but in reverse!
After putting one layer down, another is built on top of
that, and so on, until the whole loaf of bread is put together!"
"Things like prosthetic limbs can have completely customized
user designs, as opposed to generic mass produced products."
"In the future, you might be able to ask Siri to 3D-print a meal,
perfected for your palette."
Key takeaways and what I've learnt:
1. 3D printers uses material such as plastic, metal, or concrete to form a 3 Dimensional object.
2. It has advanced medical technology. You can 3D print a pill like Panadol!
